This morning when I changed DS' diaper, I noticed his right testicle is red and I think I feel a small bump (kinda hard to tell!). He seems to be just fine, no fever, happy and cheerful as usual. What could this be? At almost 12 mos, he grabs himself constantly, but I don't see any scratches or anything like that.

Also, we CD, but still use sposies at night.

I should add that it's a long weekend in France and all of the docs in our ped's office are on vacation until Wednesday. : We *could* call another doctor, but DS is unvaxed (extremely rare here) and I don't want to get grief from anyone.

Any ideas??

My oldest son had a mysterious sore on his testicle for awhile. I tried everything, largely believing it was yeast-related. I stripped my diapers, used GSE, nystatin - you name it. Later the ped & I tried elidel and finally it went away by keeping it very covered with a creme on it - now i can't remember what - a prescription something.

Anyway, I'd try a barrier cream and lots of naked time to let it air. If it doesn't disappear quicky, I'd suspect yeast and clean dipes for yeast, feed him lots of probiotics, put yogurt w/live cultures on the rash site... just keep an eye on it.

My ds (15 mo) currently has a similar thing going on with his right testicle, however I know it began by him scratching himself with his sharp little nails. Now, though, I wouldn't be able to tell that's how it started because it's a little bump-sometimes red, sometimes pale. It's taking a while to heal because if I leave his diaper off, he grabs his testicle in the same place and irritates it, but keeping a diaper on all the time (cloth) keeps it warm and moist.
If I were you I'd just keep an eye on it, especially if means dealing with an unknown doctor.
