We have spent almost a whole week now going through every cabinet, every drawer, every closet, the attic, the garage, everything and reducing our "stuff". We are clean people and dislike clutter so I was honestly shocked and surprised to find so much clutter and excess hidden away, much stacked neatly in bins. One whole bookshelf full of books was donated to the library, another of magazines. 2 bins of personal paper documents from the file cabinets shredded. Bins of stuff to be recycled, like neat glass bottles from other countries. Many clothes donated. Table and chairs, 2 TV's, lamps, rugs, pictures, etc. are set to go. We are getting ready for a large garage sale, what doesn't sell will be donated, nothing is coming back into our living space. Found gifts cards and some money. Found things that the stores did take back, a few still had the receipts on them, just waiting.
I am thankful we are on the same page as a family. But the word of the month is why.
When did we get so much? I have some ideas; I don't want it to get to this point again. Less is more and now we are both on board and it feels super.

Thanks for the inspiration. We'll be moving in 2-3 months time and I certainly don't want to lug all this clutter there. Got to get serious about this declutter business.

Glad I could be of help.
It really is so exciting to do all of this.
Hope your move goes smooth, and good luck to you, you have time to prepare and that is important, a little a day can make a big impact. That was also part of our inspiration, we might be moving soon too and didn't want to haul all of that, it is expensive on so many levels to do that.
