I was going to post on one of the cleaning boards, but I'm hoping one of the mamas here will have exactly the answer I need.

My reflux babe spits all day long. All over everything.

EVERYTHING we own now smells like breastmilk spit-up. Especially all of the baby clothing and the bed linens.

How can I clean out the smell?

Thanks

I used alot of oxyclean and hot water to wash and lilac downy fabric softener. I tried it on a few of his things first just so I knew he didnt react. ( i just liked the scent)I could count on changing 8 to 10 bibs a day 4 outfits and 3 of my own shirts. I used the rug scrubber as much as the vacuum. Ds grew out of it at 11 months 3 weeks. It just went away.... Good luck

I think I just got used to the smell. I was washing 3-5 loads of laundry a day from all dd's puking so nothing sat around to mildew and what not. Have you tried washing all soiled things daily? I know I always smelled of that sour milk/acid smell but I dont remember the smell being in clean clothes and diapers.

Ok so I think I've solved it...

2 scoops of oxyclean, 1 serving of detergent, soak on hot for 30 min, double rinse to get all the soaps out, and everything smells a lot better. Not perfect, but better.

I figure it was so stinky that a few washes might be needed to get it all out. The last load before I started experimenting w/soaps came out of the dryer smelling like it hadn't even been washed.

*yuck*
