Guys,

I am boiling mad! Aidan had an appointment with a specialist today and he was diagnosed with Acid reflux. The Dr. wanted to prescribe Zantac, but I told her that I would rather try something homeopathic first, and I asked her if she knew of a place nearby. She gave me directions to a place not too far away. There was a nice guy who helped me find some ginger for Aidan's reflux. I began looking at some sinus stuff for myself and an older woman offered to help me. I told her I was overwhelmed trying to find something to help my chronic sinusitis, and allergies. She told me that I had the wrong ginger for Aidan that one had honey so I thanked her. She told me I needed to stop breastfeeding immediately b/c I am POISONING my child with my allergies etc and I am causing his reflux. I told her I was gonna mix the ginger with EBM and she told me I couldn't do that. She wanted me to put him on almond or rice milk. She also told me to stop all dairy, wheat, tomatoes and onions. I am not doing that either. I was getting sooo mad, NAK sorry, lol. I know that bfing is the best. The nice guy that helped me earlier checked me out and I was fuming and told him what she said, he was mad, and totally disagreed with her and said bfing is best. he also said he was gonna talk to her. What if she preached that to an easily influenced mama. She would think she was poisoning her baby. that is horrible. She also told me he should not sleep on his back, it causes
SIDS, and he should sleep on his stomach. Does anyone have a letter or something I could send, or have any advice?

Sorry this is so long. anyone have any other recommendations for reflux, or how to dilute it so he will take it. I have not tried to give it to him yet.

Any help for sinus headaches for me???

thanks in advance!!!!!!!

Well, sometimes in a pile of crap you do find a dollar bill.
Many times just cutting dairy will do it, or dairy and soy... if not those then I would move to cutting out other major allergens too.

I think that's the only dollar bill in her pile of crap, though.
: Sorry you had to deal with that!

People are so ignorant sometimes!

DS2 had reflux and in Canada they won't give you anything for it unless it's really, really serious. I cut out dairy, which helped a bit, but the thing that really fixed it - took baby to the chiropractor. Like a freakin miracle it was. PM me if you want to know more - I HIGHLY recommend it.

That's horrible! She would've had an ear load from me!

Anways, we're still dealing w/ reflux at 11 mos, but cutting dairy has helped treendously (that's his biggest trigger). He still needs meds, but at least now the meds work. I'm soy and egg free too, but I'm not sure how those correlate to his reflux, though I'm sure they do and he's super sensitive. I have some great dairy/soy lists if you need help getting started.

DS#1 had reflux. We did do meds and I used a little syringe in the side of his cheek near the back of his mouth. Nursed him in a more upright position. Slept elevated with a wedge under mattress of course until he moved alot and then it was counterproductive because he would flip himself around so his legs were up!! Of course I would like to say that breastmilk if anything is going to reflux back up is the most gentle. We did try a little cereal around 5 months after nursing to see if that helped thicken what was in his belly but I didn't do it every nursing like they said I could. It did make a little difference but nothing significant and with allergies in the family I would not push the introduciton of any foods to early.
There are many homeopathics for sinuses I take some here and there but it is really an individual thing depending on how your presenting. Maybe get a good homepatic book or call to tlak to a homeopath.

OMG, I can't believe this woman told you this, and in a homeopathic pharmacy of all places!!!!!
I'm glad the other guy will talk to her.
Hope you find something that helps his reflux. I'm dealing with food sensitivities in my little boy, and it's a tough road.

((((Hugs)))) What a horrible time!

I have horrible reflux and something that helps is infact cutting out all Dairy, Wheat, and Chocolate. I can deal without the dairy and wheat but I am having a hard time with the chocolate. LOL

Right now Dr has me on medication for it but even that fails if I touch bread or milk or chocolate. I hope to get off it when baby is born as my tummy should have more room.

Anyway, I think you should do some research and see what a change of diet can do for baby. I would not stop breastfeeding, that lady was nuts!

Hope your little one is feeling better soon!

Blessings,
Kontessa

We have Gaias CHildren tummy tonic for when ds gets an upset tummy. Have you tried that?It is made for children and maybe you could try adding a drop or two of the ginger to it. You put it in a small amoutn of liquid.
