My almost three month old has started screaming every time I try to nurse him, Over the last week.
I've tried different positions, everything I can think of. I've taken him to the doctor and they say he is perfectly healthy He is exclusively breast fed. After refusing the breast all day today and screaming because he was hungry, I broke down and gave him a bottle, which he drank up and is now sleeping happily in my arms.
I'm concerned because I want to breast feed him, I do believe thats what is best for him.
I'm on the Miriana IUD and Started Prozac about two weeks ago for post partum depression, so I'm wondering if maybe the taste has changed. He also has a milk allergy, if I eat or drink any dairy he breaks out in a rash and screams all night like he is in pain, so maybe it's that, but usually with that he overeats not the opposite.
I'm at my wits end, he is hungry but he won't eat.

I will say that occasionally my little one who is now 4mos old will scream but its usually impatience I would not give formula bc this too shall pass and your supply will decrease from supplementing. Just think of it as the olden days if thats all there was the LO just had to nurse until he was satisfied we wouldn't have had alternatives and he would get used to it. Hang in there...

I would contant a Lactation Consultant ASAP. Could be a lot of things. Treat it like strike, and try these tips on getting babe back to the breast.

Good luck mama.

ETA: I just saw your post on colic, and that your babe has a dairy allergy. It could possibly be another allergy, as well as reflux. My babe had a 'nursing strike' for about 7-8 weeks before we figured out it was silent reflux. What I did was, nurse him as SOON as he woke up from a nap, when he was still sleepy. And I had to rock him and get him REALLY calm to get him to nurse. Take it one day at a time, it is really tough, but you will get through it!

Just wanted to offer you support becasue I've been there. DS2 did this at about 4 months and I concluded it was reflux and a diary allergy. We started him on prevacid and I gave up all diary. But it never really got that much better and I ended up pumping and bottle feeding. I hope it gets better for you.
