I know this has been covered, but I wanted to ask again... who likes using regular prefolds for that transition between infant and premium? I'm super-simplifying the stash (both because I'm tired of all the excess AND because we've had an unexpected bill come up!) and trying to figure out what to keep around for the next baby. Here's what I've got it down to so far:

26 infant prefolds (4x8x4)
12 VB XS fitteds I made
11 Newborn pull-on covers (dappi and bummis whisper pants)
2 NB Bumpy soft covers
2 NB Bumpy day covers
2 Small Bumpy day covers
2 Small Bummis SWW

24 premium prefolds
6 medium proraps
a bunch of medium Dappi pull-ons
6 large proraps
a bunch of large Dappi pull-ons

I know it could be even simpler if I returned the wraps but I was really getting tired of having to take off shoes and pants to change a stinky cover. I'm going to keep all the pull-ons though, because it's not like they have a big resale value, plus sometimes I'm in the mood for a pull-on (they are very reliable!).

I do have fabric to make some more fitteds (probably small VB's).

The reason I'm asking about the regular prefolds- I am returning some unused stuff and will have some store credit to spend. Should I get a dozen? Then I can make 12 small fitteds and 12 medium fitteds and call it a day? It still seems like a lot of diapers. Even with multiple children in diapers, the pail and washer only hold but so many, KWIM? Maybe I'll make fewer fitteds. I already bought so much fabric though, and it's really hard to re-sell since it's so heavy to ship. I have a ton of knit terry. Maybe I"ll make some flats out of it instead. We'll see.

Sorry for the rambling... and thanks for any advice!

I forgot to put on there, I do have some wool for nighttime: small Lana, medium Lana, and large Lana.

In my experience, there is almost no difference..the regulars are sometimes a tiny bit different in overall size (like an inch max), and they are slightly thinner (the 2 less layers in the middle), but really, I use regular and premium unterchangably. Some site has them listed as being the same size, just with different absorbancy, some sites say the premium are like 1/2 to 1 inch longer.....depending on age and shrinkage, they really are almost the same.....If for some reason you think you might want some regulars because they are a li'l bit thinner/trimmer, or if you have a light wetter, why not get some? But really..I don't think it would be needed! It really does seem like you have a LOT of dipes, lol!! Perhaps you can use the store credit on something else? do they sell anything else? wet bags, pail liners, mama pads, baby stuff, accesories, snappi's, eucalan for the wool, etc?? If there's nothing else and you have this credit, then surely you should spend it, so if you want some reg why not? But, if you have chldren that are chubby/big or you feel might PL later..perhaps splurgin on some toddler prefolds?? I know my chunk is almost too big to put a premium or reg on now....and toddler Pf's are so expensive.....or perhaps the reverse...perhaps some preemie prefolds? if you have super-wetting older kids, they make great doublers!!

*sigh*
I can't wait to get to build a wholenew stash of dipeys....C'mon September!!!
