My dh's cousin had informed us in a thank-you note that she had stopped breastfeeding very soon after birth bc it was "too hard." We didn't feel comfortable talking to her about that for some other reasons that were going on at the time, although I was very saddened for her little girl.

Well, she called last night and spoke to dh and told him that it was bc her MIL was in town for the first few weeks and was constantly on her case about NOT BFing, getting the girl on formula, putting her in a playpen all the time. Yep, made me wanna puke too. Anyway, so the stress of the situation got to her.

After dh got off the phone and told me, I told him that she could try relactating. We are going to see her on Sunday (tomorrow), and I wanted to give her some easy-reading resources and find her a LC or LLL group (which would be better?). Can you help? The babe is 11 weeks.

You could also try to hook her up with someone local for ongoing support when you aren't there. You can find someone local to her through LLL website:
http://www.lalecheleague.org

Good luck to your cousin!!

Check out the discussion boards on www.fourfriends.com - they have a link to their site for adoptive mothers who want to breastfeed, but I remember a specific board for relactation of biological children too.

Actually, go straight to http://www.fourfriends.com/abrw/forum/index.php? for the new site for the discussion boards...

Hope that helps!
