I just moved to San Francisco recently and at first I had a lot of trouble finding a sitter. I went through all the traditional channels, churches, high schools, neighbors, but I have such odd and irregular work hours that I was constantly looking. Anyway, I just thought I'd mention a website I found that helped considerably: http://www.caresquare.com/ it's basically a website that pairs parents and caregivers in the bay area, and you can search by schedule which is great. It's pretty new, but it works, and it's free. I really hope they branch out to other cities because I think it'd be a great thing for working moms everywhere. It's also just nice to see this kind of internet tool for women (though I'm sure men use it too, let's face it... it's usually the mom looking for the sitter...).
