Anyone done this?

I see no reason for WIC to redo DD's blood work done just a few days earlier by her pedi. According to the texas WIC website, you can exempt from bloodwork due to religious reasons - would it work if I hadn't exempted myself already?

They already know we are religiously exempt from vax's - and were okay with that.

Would you mind posting a link to that? I'm going to check the USDA site to see if there's something like that on there too.

Can the pedi's office just send a copy of the labs to the WIC office? No need to spend more $ or more blood for labs that were just done a few days earlier!

I dunno if it's on the USDA site - but here is the recent memo for texas {thats how I discovered it!} http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/wichd/data07/07051.pdf

It's on page 2 - where is says code 99/99.9

1. Infant is 6 months and blood work is waived to comply with CDC guidelines.
2. Applicants whose religious beliefs shall not allow them to have blood drawn.
3. Applicants with “life long” medical conditions such as hemophilia, fragile bones, or osteogenesis imperfecta.
4. Applicants with a treatable skin disease or with a serious skin condition, where the blood collection may cause harm to the applicant

They probably could - but I'm not sure WIC would accept them. And the pedi only does blood work at certian times - whereas WIC does it at every recert {every 6 months bascially}

They should accept it. As long as it is an original copy, as in, it can't be a photocopy, but there is no reason to have to draw blood again for a test that has already been done. For example, when I was pregnant and applying for WIC, I gave them an original copy of my CBC done for my OB. They accepted it. I did the same for my daughter. No problem. It just needs to be an original.
