I see familiar names - I hope you all are doing well!
As for us...
Maura is doing great, as usual
She's going to be six next month and we're getting ready to do the kindergarten thing. Which is NOT going smoothly. So I put on my arse-kicking boots and taking no prisoners. My theme song for all this is "Don't blow sunshine up my arse." LOL! I don't think asking for a FT para-pro for my CI daughter with motor issues and a seizure disorder who isn't toilet trained yet is asking for too much. Especially since our only option is inclusion.
Hopefully, the fact that Maura had two seizures at school will make them take us more seriously. The fact that the SE director hasn't called me back with an appointment with the school nurse yet makes me feel like they aren't taking us seriously. Hence the boots
We did AVB therapy in December at the Kaufman Center. And it actually worked! I was so excited. Maura loved it (they tweaked it more for the apraxia bit.) And then we couldn't afford to sign up immediately for the next session, so were put back on the waiting list....only to find out later the waiting list is a year long! WTF? I'm so ticked off that we found something and can't do it now. I'm doing what I can at home, but it isn't the same.
So I'm all shades of frustrated about Maura's future. But she's all sorts of happiness, speaking more. We can actually have little tiny conversations with her almost. She also one time sang along to "Bubbly", but refuses to repeat that moment when I've got a camera to record her. But dh got to hear it, it was cool.
And - Maura shall perform in her very first dance recital next month! She LOVES dance class! I fear though she will be the rogue bunny of her little dance troop. Her class will be bunnies. Maura can hop now, but always ends up wandering. Her teacher is great with her though
So that's us. All excitement and wonder.
