Sometimes as mammas we get so caught up in making sure our babies are well nourished at the breast that we forget to take care of ourselves, too. I just wanted to remind all you mammas out there to drink plenty of water (more than you think you need), eat lots of healthy foods and get plenty of rest.

The reason I say this is I had a pretty big scare last night when I got up to change DD's diaper. I woke up drenched in sweat (should have been my first clue, eh?) and by the time I had her on the changing table I was feeling extremely woozy, getting hot and cold flashes and was hardly able to stand up. I had just enough time to call out to my DH before I passed out from what I think may have been dehydration and a little bit of sleep deprivation. Thankfully, I landed on an air mattress that I sometimes sleep with DD on so I didn't conk my head or anything. And I was even more thankful that DD stayed on the changing table and didn't roll off (although, she can't roll from her back yet, but still) before my DH got there. All it would have taken was that moment between when I passed out and he showed up.

Anyway, just wanted to remind all you other BFing mammas out there to take good care of yourselves so you can nourish and care for your babes!

Oh how scary! Please take good care of yourself today. Sweats and dizziness are usually a good sign that I have mastitis, so please be extra vigilant about resting, drinking water, and draining your breasts today.

Hope you're doing better.

Thanks mamma! It was really scary! I'm feeling better now, though, after drinking a ton of water and resting a bit. I'll be watching for sings of plugged ducts and mastitis.
