I am so angry! I just got off the phone with our local health dept. to request a vaccine exemption form and was treated with utter contempt on the phone by the staff person. She drilled me about my childs age and immunization stataus, and when I tried to have a dialog with her she was practically spitting at me over the phone. NOt only that but she was close to telling me outright lies! I am furious. No wonder it is so hard for parents to get any info at all. No one wants to discuss even the remote possibility of vaccine reactions....they think I am a total imbecile and crazy. She did not have any usefull info to give me and pretty much hung up on me. I tried to explain to her that I have been doing research, am a Biologist, and have studied extensively. Why waste my breath, as far as she was concerned I am a complete idiot! However, I must say I finaly got a hold of a state epidemiologist who was a very good source of information and not at all hostile. Excuse bad spelling, I don't know how to do spell check in this thing.

Urgh that sounds awful! I would try and call back or go there myself and tell someone how rudely you were treated and all you want is an exemption form not harrasement.

How ridiculous!!!!!!!! UGH. Definately write a letter complaining about her. What I dont get is WHY they get SO upset. It's not their kid. I hate vaxes but if someone wants to get em, go for it, it aint my kid. I dont see why they care so much.

they get upset because our unvaxed kids are putting their vaxed kids at risk for the vaxed diseases. so basically, what they're saying is the vaxes do not work. i love it when they say that to me <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue">
