448 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  dharmama
In honor of Earth Day, The Rhode Island Birth Network will present a free public workshop, Alternatives to Disposable Diapers: Cloth and Elimination Communication, on Sunday, April 23rd at 4 p.m. at the Kingston Free Library.

Stacey Grant, owner of A Few Natural Changes (www.afewnaturalchanges.com), and member of the Real Diaper Association (www.realdiaperassociation.org), will demonstrate the many user-friendly options available today in cloth diapers.

Then, Melinda Rothstein, co-founder of Diaper-Free Baby (www.diaperfreebaby.org), will share her experiences with Elimination Communication (also called Natural Infant Hygiene or Infant Potty Training).

Whether you are a cloth-diapering or EC veteran looking to connect with like-minded families or just beginning to consider one, or both, of these options, this promises to be a great meeting!

Hope to see you there!

Erin,
I'd love to finally make it to one of the meetings, but my concern is that my dd (17 mos) isn't exactly quiet.. what do the other mamas do? I'd love to sneak out by myself for that little bit, but DH will be working..

Well....quiet is relative.

We definitely don't expect the kiddos to be silent...but we also want people to be able to hear the speakers.

Most of the kids wander and play...if anyone gets really loud, there is a hallway right outside the room where parents can hang out with them for a bit.

I tend to leave DD (22 mos) with DH whenever I can...just because it's more enjoyable for me to get to sit and relax and listen...but I have brought her a few times and it's been ok.

Hope you can make it!!

~Erin
