We have a <a href="http://www.littletikes.com/productimages/full/f_4855_N_1.jpg" target="_blank">Little Tikes Cozy Coupe</a>, bought from a yard sale for Jett by a very sweet neighbor of ours. He loves it, but can't make it go forward because of his size (33" tall, 18 mo) and the way the car's designed.<br><br>
DH is all gung-ho to get him another car that he can actually use and I'm all for it, too.<br><br>
I'd love suggestions, especially ones with nice softer (maybe real rubber) tires, that won't kill our wood floors and don't sound so obnoxious.<br><br>
Also, can an 18 mo old pedal a pedal car? If not, when do they usually grasp that ability?

DS is the same size (and just barely older) and while we have a Step 2 for outside he has a Radio Flyer Retro Rocket inside. Unfortunately it makes noise (although no need for batteries <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1">) but DS LOVES it.

Most kids don't get how to use pedals until 2.5-3 years. 2 years at the very earliest.

We have <a href="http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/sm-instep-fire-truck-pedal-car--pi-1208930.html" target="_blank">this pedal car</a> and it had adjustability on the pedals so you can move them back for shorter legs. My 20 month old loves to ride in it,but cannot quite pedal yet. He just kinda pushes with his feet, like Fred Flinstone.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

Amy, I really love the hotrod version of this one. Does it steer? If not, how do they do anything but go straight? I'm just thinking of how Jett whips his Svan scooter all around tiny spots in our little house.<br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">

Yes, the steering wheel controls the 2 front wheels <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/nod.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="nod"> He'd love it <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">
