I think there's a wide range of normal when it comes to this. Anywhere from 2.5 months or so to 4 months maybe?

Mine was a super-early roller, but I've heard that the "official" milestone is 4 months from tummy to back (seems way late to me) and then back to tummy a few weeks later.

This can also vary if your baby is a back-sleeper or a tummy-sleeper. Tummy sleepers tend to roll and crawl earlier.

DS rolled back to tummy at 3 months but not the other way. He actually perfected his rolling ability just yesterday. He's going back and forth now at 6 months.

my ds only really started rolling back to tummy intentionally a week or two ago and he's 11 months old! I know he's been able to do it physically for a few months because he's done it by accident a couple of times since 6 months, but i just think he's a mellow kid who's happy playing on his back and would rather have someone help him move than exert the extra energy until he's mastered the skill. he was the same way with crawling, which didn't start until 10 months - he'd been on the "verge" since 7.5 months but didn't want to take that next step until he was really ready. once he started, he just took off. i guess they're all different

DD rolled from tummy to back at 3 months a couple of times and hasn't done it since. I am trying to teach her how to roll from back to tummy and she kind of half heartedly tries but I guess she's just not interested yet! She's 4.5 months old now btw. I am pretty sure she's going to sit up on her own before she rolls over again the way she's going :p

DS is 4.5 months old and still hasn't ever rolled back to tummy. He's rolled tummy to back a couple of times, although not very frequently. I'm not concerned about him though - babies all develop at their own speed <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

Everly went back to tummy just before she turned two months. My neighbours little guy didn't do it until he was 7 months.
