I've never grown lettuce before and I think I know why now,

I went on vacation for a week and came back to two dead lettuce plants. I thought maybe it was overwatering (my mom watered every day for me).

The rest of the lettuce plants were green and healthy looking though. Well, now two weeks later two more are dead. They just . . . . die. Just one day the leaves just lay down on the dirt. They are still green when I find them.

Anyone have a clue?

I don't suppose you have photos, do you?

Have you looked at the roots (of the dead ones) to make sure some underground creature isn't eating them?

I'm still in my first year of lettuce growing, so I'm still learning all this, too.
