Dr suspects that my 4-month old has rotovirus. He thinks that because he has low grade fever, restless, not sleeping etc and his poop for the last 3-4 days was dark green , little bit liqudy and VERY stinky. However he is pooping only once per day, the rest of the time he just farts (also stinky). No vomiting.<br><br>
If you child had rotovirus, can you share the symptoms?<br>
He is ebf, so normally his poop is mustardy with very little smell.<br><br>
PS: I just found another thread abot rotovirus and most kids had diarria - which is pooping often! Ds only poops once a day (a lot, but once a day). Does it still looks like roto?

I guess rotavirus has a very distinct odor to it and it is diarrhea (7 bowel movements a day) for several days.<br><br>
Once a child had it, he is immune for life. So it's actually a good thing to get it over with.<br><br>
Oh, and not everyone has rotavirus exactly the same way. Your dc may be having it?<br><br><br>
Don't give the vaccine (just in case your doctor suggested it) - the oral vaccine is very dangerous.

I remember reading something like 95% of kids have had rotovirus by the age of 5, but most of the time you don't even know it. I used that stat when asking the doc why it was important to vax for something most aren't even aware of having. She hemmed and hawed and said something stupid.

My son had it at around six months or so (also EBF) and the symptoms you describe sound very similar (green very stinky very poop). Rotovirus is rather nasty, but not nearly as bad in BF babies. I can't remember how long it lasted in my son's case...maybe several days to a week?<br><br>

my son had it and i didn't even know...it was green stinky and twice a day...just what you described...i just thought his tummy was upset so we added extra liquids and i mentioned it at his next dr. apt. (about a month after) his dr. said some dumb things<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">: but i was mad b/c my ds had his 2mo/4mo shots (well most he started late and didn't get them all now none) so i asked her why did he get it...she gave dumb answers blamed it on me (reason number 987456812 why i am no vax<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> ) but it did open the flood gates to question vax...OT i know... back to your question it lasted about 6-9 days i think
