I am almost 36 weeks along and my doctor is inducing me at 38 1/2 weeks because of a medical condition (ITP, low blood platelets that we are managing with steroids)

Everything looks great, my cervix is nice and soft and baby is dropped but I'm not dilated. I want to know what I can do to help my body be prepared as much as possible for the induction, and my doc also said some babies come before 38 1/2 weeks so it would not hurt to do things like try intercourse to help labor along. I asked her about RRL tea, and she didn't know anything about it.

Should I try it ?

If I do, what can it do for me?

Anyone have resources on it being safe ?

I am not trying to go into full blown labor but prepping up would be nice, and if it slowly brings me closer, that'd be great!!

You don't have a lot of time left, but you can definitely start drinking RRL Tea now to help tone your uterus and prepare it for labor. The RRL Tea Tribe thread contains a lot of great info on what others do to prepare for labor and how to best use the RRL when labor seems imminent.

Here is the link to that thread:
http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=347728
It's gigantic, but helpful.

If I were in your situation, I would start right away drinking the tea every day, probably two glasses. When the induction date arrives, I would make the super strong infusion that others drink when their labor begins and hope that helps your uterus to do its work.

Just my .02 Good Luck

Start drinking RRL tea now, as much as you want. It is safe, but it won't cause/help you to go into labor. It "tones" the uterus, which to me means strengthens it. If you are wanting something to help you with the induction, I would look into other things. I drink RRL tea pre-pregnancy and all through pregnancy and it if helped you go into labor I wouldn't have had two full term (one overdue) babies!

What I am trying to say is that it is healthy for you to drink anyways, but if you are looking for something to induce you or help your induction its not going to do much...

Ditto. I've found it useful in the past, not necessarily to start things off, but to help out. Good luck!
