Does anyone of have a child with this? Our almost 11 year old was just diagnosed with this. We have been struggling with this problem from almost birth on. It is relief to finally know the whole picture. He also has juvenile arthritis just to complicate things.

I have heard of it, but am not familiar with it. Hopefully, someone has some info for you.

I've worked with many children and adults who ruminate, but they've never had this diagnosis. We used behavioral techniques to deal with it (mainly satiation diet then distraction following meals).

It does not happen until an hour after his meals. We thought it was a part of his reflux.

He is 11 years old and failure to thrive. He is a size of a 5 year old. He has a feeding tube. Even with his feeding tube he does not gain weight.

I would find that very unusual and wonder if it was at all voluntary. Usually by that time there is so much stomach acid present it is not fun.

He spent 3 weeks in the hospital last year. They diagnosed him with a non specific medical eating disorder meaning it was not psychological. We know somethings he does is a learned response but we know others are not. He has been this way since he was an infant. He did not eat any solids until almost 3 years old. BTW...he is highly intelligent. He is suppose to be a 5th grader but is a 6th grader.
