I have heard that until you cease BFing, there are a few pounds that stick around. You know, fat stores and whatnot. So is it true that years (hopefully) from now when dd weans I'll magically lose some more weight?

Hey, I gotta work every angle I can.

Thanks.

I've read that in a number of bf'ing books : and found that it was true with me. I couldn't seem to drop those last 5-7 lbs for the life of me even though I exercised regularly. I was, however, able to tone up, so that I still fit into all of my clothes.

It isn't the case for everyone, though, so maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones!

It wasn't true for me .. well, sorta. I lost a LOT of weight bf'ing - more than I gained during the pg (60+ lbs) .. but I still had pockets of fat in my tummy, breasts and a few other spots. It wasn't the weight that stuck with me, it was the fat stores

i actually weigh less now than i did before getting pg.

but i think it's because i don't work out as much and have lost muscle...because there is definitely fat in places it wasn't before :

I lost the pregnancy weight after 9 months of breastfeeding and continued to breastfeed for another 9 months; however, my body doesn't look the same as it used to. I'm more out-of-shape and some of the muscle has been replaced by fat! I guess that just losing the weight doesn't mean as much as getting "back into shape." I can't seem to get rid of that little "pouch" on my tummy even though the muscles underneth are somewhat toned.

I effortlessly lost all 39 lbs I'd gained during pregnancy while breastfeeding...and then lost about 7 more. Now I'm fluctuating a bit from week to week but am still not back up to my prepreg. weight. My body's not the same though. For me I have more muscle in my arms but I'm still a size bigger around the middle. Go figure.

It wasn't true for me. I lost all my pg weight pretty easily, and then after my dd turned one I lost another 45 through weight watchers nursing plan and running. I definitely needed to lose the weight and I did struggle with the last five or ten pounds. But they did come off eventually (took 7 months). But I guess I'm the exception??

edited to add that dd is nursing a few times a day now and is almost 2.

good luck! Healthy eating and exercise never hurts, no matter what the scale says.

It wasn't true for me. I lost all 80ish pounds and was back to my pre-preggo weight within 6 months of giving birth, while breastfeeding exclusively. I wouldn't mind losing another 5-10lbs, but I'm still nursing, and am pregnant, so I don't see that happening anytime soon.
