I checked for a new thread and did not see one...but I am also in need of a nap, so forgive me if I have duplicated. (I also tried for a clever title, but clearly did not succeed. I guess mdc posts should come after sleep.)

I am running my first 5k next sunday, with my father in law--and dd in her stroller! I was pleasantly surprised to learn that would be ok. I had thought of running, then decided I was not ready, and dh would not be free. but I'm glad fil encouraged me; he is the one who called to ask about the stroller. this is my baby step towards 13.1 in september.

My deadline is sneaking up, and now I'm just fighting Word to pdf conversion issues. Hopefully that means a run tomorrow!

As for jogging strollers and races -- generally it's just fine, just hang to the back of the starting crowd to let others past. People won't see that front wheel in a crowd! Have fun!

kangamitroo - Thanks for starting the new thread. I think it is a very clever title

Geo - Good luck with your Word to PDF thing. I am brutal at that kind of stuff. Hope you get your run in!

Still running toward that new jacket at the end of my clinic :LOL

Thanks for starting the new thread, and good luck on the 5k with the jogger. I'm going to try for a 5k series with the jogger this fall.

Geo- I was in the same place a couple of weeks ago, had a file that I just could not get to convert from word to .pdf. It was a file from a template that the organization provided for a paper I was submitting. I'd never had a problem with converting word files to acrobat files, before, and I do it all the time. I even sent the file to a couple of other people who have Adobe and nothing worked, until I sent it up to our librarian who has Adobe professional (I guess I had Adobe amateur, who knew ) and it worked just fine.

MonikaUT, thanks for the info, I did some looking at the Forerunner's and decided that I'm going to ask for one for my b-day! (I"ll probably get the same one that you mentioned, I don't think I'm anywhere near the level where I need a HRM)

I'll be back running tomorrow, I think, the back is starting to heal up.

My run went better this morning, my knee didn't hurt at all. I walked a little, just because I was tired : I am glad I live in such a flat area - hills do my knees in. If I ever run in a race, i will be walking down all hills just to be sure I can finish!

The temperature is supposed to get into the 20's this week - hooray! I am so ready to pack away the jeans and sweaters.

Hi! Just checking in, I got back from my afternoon trail run which was fun, but I slipped on one of the little bridges and went down hard on the same shoulder I dislocated last summer. Everything is okay and I was able to run out - but I walked all the remaining bridges!

No real schedule this week, just lots of runs and lots of activity and then my DH has to travel for work starting on Saturday so I'll be single parenting.

Defeated the pdf demon using tools I never imagined would help. Go figure. Yes, I have Acrobat Professional, and not even that was working. I'm going home early today, getting to bed early tonight, and hopefully running tomorrow evening. Wish me a day of no puking!

Walk those bridges grnmtnmama!

Hollysmom-A nice reward. You deserve it.

I hadn't run since 2 weeks ago. Dh and I did about 10 miles on Friday on the bike. Boy there was a killer hill in there. I walked on Monday to ease myself back and today I ran about 2.3, but walked about .6 or so in the middle. Hoping to get a few more of those run/walks in this week. Dh and his siblings waterskiied on Sunday and Monday, but I just watched. I'll have to wait until next year.

Hi ladies.

Yesterday, I ran 2.5 miles and walked .5 and I did 100 situps before bed.

This morning I was out running by 6:30 and I also went weightlifting before class. I had to get things done because I had a manicure appointment tonight (usually I dont do things like that, but my brother is getting married Saturday).

The plan is to bike 10-15 miles tomorrow.

I'm around...but not running. My knees are still hurting when I try. Thursday has been my day for trying and well last thurs I got about 20 minutes before it started to hurt. The PT talked to my podiatrist (in passing...kinda cool) and he thinks he can help by fixing my orthotics. We'll see. I've been doing lots of other stuff. I have the goal of doing about an hour of exercise at least four times a week and 30 minutes two times a week. So, I'm rollerblading, biking, doing tae bo and pilates. It's actually fun to do some different stuff. Oh and I had to change my eating BIG time! I put on 7 pounds immediately after the marathon. I've since taken it back off, but with very mindful attention to my eating.

kangamitroo - nicely done and keep going that 13.1 will be here in no time and you'll be raring to go!

I posted on last week's thread...pg brain!

Patti--good for you for keeping on getting out there!

my "running" is so slow too, and I basically have to walk one minute for every one I jog. But I did 40 minutes today on TM and elliptical and was glad I did, but wiped out. Next year is right!

kanga--good luck on the 5K! your dd will love it with all the people.

geo--silly pdf files...glad you got that taken care of.

I am still kind of in a fog and trying to get some work done, no pdf's involved! happy running all.

I guess that holiday really threw me! :LOL I would have hung out on the old thread forever if geo hadn't rescued us.

Biked 10mi so far today, and have not run again in a couple days. But I guess I'm OK with it. Morning is such a nice running time. I really have to organize it into my AMs better. Dh leaves us on Sunday, so then my schedule is mine, and running will skip like 7 slots toward the top of the priority list. My mother is coming tomorrow, so I may take an early run all alone and leave her with the kiddos for 45 minutes or so. It'll still be cool at 7 AM.

I can't believe our big family trip is now only a little more than 3 weeks away. Crazy. So much to do, and all with dh out of state. Wow. Of course, with dh out of state, there's also a significant reduction in laundry, housecleaning, and meal preparation time, so actually it will most likely all balance out. Right? Lots of time to run, walk and bike, relatively regular nap and sleep schedules, and no TV in the evenings! I'll be lonely sometimes, but I see peace ahead, too!

Damn the torpedos, full steam ahead.

*Everything* about my body wants to go running except for my stomach. I generally feel better after I start moving. I've been working my tushy off for a couple weeks now and I'm restless. I'm going home early now and I'm going running. Period. Come Puke or High Water.

Grnmtnmama - Yee-ouch! Sorry about your fall! I've fallen so many times due to ice or uneven sidewalks in the dark, I really feel your pain!

Shantimama - Isn't warm weather great? We had it here for a week, now we're back to rain. :

Jenlove - Your workouts are amazing. Your body must be a rock!

I ran 5.5 last night with Truman dog. My joints were feeling a little jolted on the sidewalk so I hit the squishy woodchip running path around the park for most of my mileage. Ahhh, that felt better! DH makes fun of me when I say it, but sometimes I just feel old! (He's 9 years older than me so he says I can't say I'm old.)

DH leaves tomorrow morning for Las Vegas for his company's convention and I'm on my own till Sunday. This will be the first time I've slept alone with DD. We'll miss him! I don't know how much running I'll get in while he's gone, but we set up the treadmill so I can do emergency running during DD's naps if necessary.

Geez, Geo, please don't founder in any high water! (Or puke!) What a bummer to be nauseous. I'm glad that wasn't one of my preggo symptoms - just unbelievable fatigue. Hope you managed okay on your run.

I decided my sore breast was probably a plugged duct after all - got a red spot and a lump. It's better today. I can nurse dd without gritting my teeth and curling my toes. I'm going to push my luck and run this afternoon as well, because I'm still feeling high from the race and want to capitalize on that.

In other big news, my baby is 2! I can't believe it. My last baby is such a big girl. When you all get your new babies here, can you send me a ziplock baggy of baby-head-scented air? Or at least a cute picture?

My run went great, no puking. It took me a long time to feel warmed up. I started 3 times, ran a few blocks, had to stop and walk, before I felt like I could just go. All in all I ran about 20 minutes, with about 15 minutes of walking.

I only puked once with Karen. I felt ok by 10 weeks and good by 12 weeks. I'm now close to 14 weeks and I'm still feeling as queasy as I did at week 8. I haven't had the unbelievable exhaustion this time, though, so I guess that's a good thing.

Have fun in the great weather, all!

Happy birthday Caroline!

Glad you had a good run, Geo! Welcome back to pg running...every day something different.

I have a question for y'all...it was pretty clear today that I can't do high-impact cardio for more than about 30 minutes without being totally exhausted. I pushed it to 40 today and that was wrong. Anyway, do you guys think I should walk long, run short, or a combination of both? I want to stay in pretty good shape at least for another month (that friggin Peachtree...although I'm thinking about selling my number ).

Thanks...by the end of this we can write our OWN pg running book! (and on the other thread, a bring your baby to work book?!?!?!)

totally OT, I am drinking the most delicious treat...a Starbucks (satan) mint mocha chip frappucino (decaf, skim no whip, lite) and it is amazing...dh brought it home for me as a tasty pg treat! such a guilty pleasure.
