Mamas, what are your favorite winter boots for toddlers? We're expected to get a cold winter here, so I'd like something that will keep her feet very warm and dry.

I'm looking at these from Land's End but would love more ideas. DD is 21 months and wears a 7.

Also - should I size up to allow for thick socks?

Those look great to me! I found DS's snow boots this year at a consignment store for $5. He wears an 11 in his other shoes, but I got him a size 12 to allow for a little extra room for thick socks. So yes, I would probably go up a 1/2 size to a whole size to allow for the thick socks!

We have a rockin' pair of sealskin boots. Soft-soled, lined with quilted flannel :lostit. When DS outgrows them, I'm gonna be sad. :cry Might have to have another kid just so they get used.

These sound amazing!

OPs Lands End boots look pretty rad.

I got a pair of Kamiks from my local consignment. We also have Vincent rain boots and Bearpaws (I can't do without sheepskin boots for dry weather walking in the winter).

Well I can tell you what NOT to buy. Carter's boots suck. Toby can barely move in them. I don't know if it's because they're a little big on him or what, but I hate getting them on (because they fall off constantly, the velcro doesn't hold them on his feet) and they don't seem particularly warm or comfy either.

I want to buy him another pair of a different brand (those sealskin boots, I want a pair for me!!) but I'm not thrilled about spending the money. Stinkin' fast-growing baby feet.

Talk about crying, I bought these last winter for ds: http://www.softstarshoes.com/index.c...roduct_ID=1197 and he refused to wear them! I'm keeping them for a future child, but man did that break my heart!

Ditto on Carter's! Actually, I haven't had any footwear of theirs that work for my kids. I usually find them at 2nd hand stores or they are given to us. Funnily enough, they're usually in brand new condition guess other people's kids don't wear them much either!

I got DD a pair of Ministar Fur Bootz from target.com. They are ADORABLE! Soft, flexible moccasin bottom, warm furry lining. She doesn't even try to take them off lol! I think they come in 3 colors incl. beige and brown.

We got these Kamik's this year. They are so intelligently designed: waterproof bottoms, water resistant uppers, nice warm fuzzies inside...but the best part is that they roll down! You can easily get your kiddo's foot in there and then roll them up over pants or snowpants or what have you and with one Velcro fastener, you're done! Brilliant!
