Does he like it? I almost bought this for DS but had not gotten around to it. Small ears floating around aren't a huge concern for me, I would assume that new purchases would be safe. Is it worth buying?

yeah he likes it ok. it's not his favorite toy but he really hasn't gotten the concept of shapes yet either.
