Hope I'm in the right place, if not my apologies
Anyone at home due to a layoff? I recently, after 13 years with the same company have found myself unemployed. To be honest, I'm not terribly sad....I'm actually quite thrilled
The problem is we simply cannot live off of DH's income (mine was the higher of the two) and even if the one income we had was mine I doubt if we could live on that alone either. So the sad thing is all good things must come to an end.
I'm trying to work out a budget, but I just don't see us making it on one income. We are fortunate that we only had our child at a sitters 3 hours a day even though we both worked full time (I worked first and DH worked 2nd). So in that respect I feel we are doing our best for our little one, but I can't help but think there is some way to make it work. But if we didn't need child care that would be $300/month we wouldn't have to pay out.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd love to some how slide from severance package to unemployment checks to anything part-time. I'm just not sure where to start.
The other down side is I carried the insurance and unfortunately we need infertility coverage (and though DH's company offers insurance...it doesn't cover that). So in a few months I think I'll be paying COBRA for at least myself while DH picks up him and DD on his plan.
