Sam was due by scheduled c-section on May 31. I was 39 weeks, 2 days along. I had bh contractions off an on since 37 weeks. I was woken up at about 3 am on the 31 with contractions. At first, I thought they were the same ones I had een having. So I tried to go back to sleep, but I could not. They were actually hurting. So I tried walking around, then I took a bath. The bath helped, but I was still having then and they were close, but short. At 4:30 I woke Tom up and made him call my parents and MIL. The plan was that Dad, DH, MIL and I would go to the hospital and Mom would watch Alexis.

They got to the apt about 5:20 and i was in a bad mood. I was hurting. I ended up riding with Dad to the hospital, cause he was in the van and that was easer to get in. I had 2 contraction on the 5 min trip. Dad enjoyed running all the light and pulled right up to the door. We got out and walked in. I was about 30 min early, but told then I was having contractions. Turns out I was in hard labor. I was 5 cm and 80% effaced. They called my Dr. but he did not come in early. I had to suffer through labor till 7:45 with only a shot of demeral. They finally took me back to the OR and I got my spinal block. That instantly kicked in and I felt much better. Dad said I looked happy when he came in. (DHwas sacred, so Dad was with me during the c-section.) Sam was born at 8:23 and Dad got some great pictures. All I got to see of her was an arm. They warmed her up, weighed her, and all that stuff. Then they finally brought her over for me to see. Then she and Dad went to the nursery. The Dr said I had a lot of scar tissue and it took a long time to get me put back together.

I was wheeled back to my recovery room at about 9:30 and Sam came in a few min later. I got to nurse her for over an hour.

Congratulations Sarah and welcome baby Samantha!!

I think it's so neat that you went into labor naturally on your scheduled day. It sounds like nursing is off to a great start, too!

Take care and rest and enjoy your babymoon
