So, I keep seeing these sandal socks floatin around and I just can't figure out why people wear them. Is there a real function? Are they just pretty?
If they really are useful I'd like to whip up a pair for my MIL in Turkey when I send her the shawl I knitted for her, which she can only wear four months a year there (not that much winter, eh?).
Gets me. I wear sandals whenever possible because I don't really like wearing socks. I think they are mostly decorative? Or maybe they are to help if it's humid and your feet stick in the sandals??
2) some people (like me!) don't really like wearing shoes of any kind without socks (not because I don't want to show my toes but because they're uncomfortable that way) and this allows us to wear sandals while still wearing socks without having to have the toe folded and squished between the big and second toes (if they're thong sandals).
I think they are kind of fetishey... draws attention to your toes... like a toe ring... like crotchless panties... it's like- I'm wearing the garment... but I'm not covering the part you want to see.
IT'S KNIT PORN AND THAT"S ALL I'M GONNA SAY ON THE MATTER!!!
The sandle socks I've seen aren't any differnet than other socks except that the intricate designs are also on the heel and toes because they'll be seen. I hate going without socks, so I knit bright stripy sandle socks to wear with my birks. Since I only knit wool socks it lengthens the birk wearing season for me as well.
I for one, don't eally like socks, unless it is at night and reaaaaaaally cold. otherwise, I am an open-toe shoe kinda girl, year round if I can get away with it. I may make all my socks like the pedicure socks
My feet just get too hot otherwise. Plus, I have pretty toe rings!
