We go to Isis Medicine, over on Botulph lane, on the other side of st, mikes from the hospital, and they are really supportive of a natural parenting approach and are wonderful people! Bruce Gollub and Leah Morton are wonderful doctors...

I am also new to Santa Fe, just moved here in June.
My husband is a family physician here and is supportive of natural parenting-we used cloth diapers, breastfed until 16 months, he and our kids are vegetarian. From what I can tell, most of the physicians he works with are into family centered care and are interested in collaboratve care--not telling parents how to raise their kids but making those decisions together.

Hey,

we're not there yet, but will be in the next six months or so. I grew up in Alb., but have been living up here in the MN frozen tundra for waaay too long. So we're headed that way, finally! My dd is 2 & 1/2; will be 3 by the time we're there, I imagine. I'm looking to make some virtual connections before actually getting there.

I'm also looking for preschool recommendations. There are so many with cool sounding names, but that's not much to go on! LOL. Don't know what work we'll be doing, or what part of town we'll be in, but I'd rather find a good program fit than worry about geography.

TIA! And hope you don't mind me hanging out here a bit, even though we're not there yet!

Lundy.
hey my family will be moving out there in the next 6 months. we are looking for acreage. we are going to build our house ourselves. we have 2 boys 2 and 10 months old. we will be unschooling and would love to hook up with other fams out there. new mexico has been our dream for years now and we are finally bustin out of texas. yeehaw. would love to here from someone acquainted with all the littl;e towns in the mountains.

Hi y'all!
Hope you don't mind if I reactivate this thread!

I'm not in Santa Fe, but 2 hours north in a tiny village called Tierra Amarilla in the Chama valley, just 20 minutes from the Colorado border. Santa Fe is the closest "civilization" for us! We come down once or twice a month.

Karin Thron at Women's Health Services is an awesome family physician who is incredibly supportive of breastfeeding and natural birth. Like many MDs she's probably pro-vax but is incredibly respectful of people's choices. She was my doctor during my last pregnancy, and would have delivered dd except I had a placenta previa and was transferred to Albuquerque.

So where do you AP Santa Fe moms hang out?! I've changed many a cloth diaper in Whole Foods, and nursed all over, but I don't think I've seen any of you, judging by some of the looks I've gotten, lol!
Hi all, I've been through Isis, (they have a great mission and atmosphere, but Dr. Gollub was not talkative enough for me), Karin Throne is my Primary, (she is a sister!, it takes along time to get an appointment, big place. My kids go to Lenya Reese, she is awsome, a retired midwife, she takes presbyterian salud (medicaid). Many of my friends go to her and just pay because she's worth it. She does alopathic, but prefers homeopathic, herbs, and supplements.
just wanted to say howdy again! I am Rachel, momma to Audra ( 9 months on 01-15-04)

I haven't checked this thread lately, thought I was supposed to get an email alert :-/

Anyhow, I would really love love love to make some friends around here. It's just me, my daughter, my husband and my inlaws to hang out with.
If by any chance anyone is going to the LLL meeting on 01-09-04 look for me and say hello.

Btw, Santa Fe needs an AP playgroup...for the parents!!
;-P

feel free to email me1

Rachel!
Hey! What part of town do u live in? We just moved to the far north side of town. Ive only been to the LLL meeting once when Caden was only 12 weeks old (sigh lol). IT's at 10 AM that's just an INSANE hour for me. Not that I get to sleep in or anything but Caden sometimes if Im lucky takes a two hour nap around then and I get to sleep a lil If im (again) lucky!!! So it's jus really bad timing otherwise Id probably go =/
we do need a playgroup!!! Things are really crazy w/us moving and everything though!! Caden will be 11 mos on the 17th gosh time flies!! I have to admit I miss him being so tiny but at the same time Im happy to be done w/the newborn stage it's bittersweet I guess.
Just joined and posted an intro in the intro thread but thought I'd pop over here too! Don't want to be redundant, but I am mom to 4 as of June and self-employed here in Eldorado. Would love to meet some new friends here in my hometown, maybe convene at the Chizeum (Children's Museum) or, when it warms up a bit, the park. Hiking. Etc.

I particularly love the Chama area, BTW, and get up north as often as possible!!

So...hi to my fellow Santa Feans! Feel free to email if you'd like.
This guy is cool:

Hey All!

I'm headed to TA this weekend (tomorrow through Thursday) for a job interview. Believe me, 30's sounds like shorts weather considering I woke up here to 24below actual temp this morning!

ChamaMama : wanna hook up?!?!

Ana : how do you like Eldorado? We're looking for somewhere to rent and have seen lots of ads for that area.

DeeGroovee!

Lundy.
We like Eldorado. It isn't our dream place by any means (see my introduction post!!) but all in all a great community in which to raise your kids. We just bought our second house here, specifically so the kids could stay in their school AND because the market values out here are only going up (always have) so resalability will help us fund our dream....

There's a great clubhouse with a pool, in the warmer months, that's free to the residents, two parks, and a library. We like it.

Quite a hike from TA though!!! I, personally, would rather be up there. Someday....

What sort of job, if you don't mind my asking?
I'll tell ya more if it works out!

Actually, the cool thing is that it's an off site job; so we can basically live anywhere in NM, so long as I can get up there periodically. Right now we're in Minnesota planning a move to SF and our current lease isn't up until the end of July; but if things come together sooner I'm not opposed to it. So, we'll see.

Thanks for the Eldo. info!

We may ultimately end up more north of SF (my mom's in Chama & goes by Chama Mimi & knows, of course, ChamaMama!), but my Minneapolitan hubby needs to take baby steps away from this metro. We're also not looking really at city proper. More likely outskirts somewhere. Pecos, Glorieta, maybe even as far north as Abiquiu, who knows......

Look forward to meeting one of these days!

L.

Hello everyone, I am new to this BB, but not to SF. I have lived here all of my life. Our only child is 14m. He was born prematurely and his adjusted age is 11m. I love being a new momma. My dh is a SAHD and I work for the state. I really look forward to chatting with all of you.

Hey, nice to meet another native! Well, I wasn't actually born here but I've been here since I was 5 so pretty close.

Would be great if we could revive this thread!
