I have a friend who delivered there, said she was very happy with the experience. she had a c/s, she went into labor at 36 weeks with twins, was in labor for a good while before they consented to the c/s (were planning a vaginal birth). They are very much into breastfeeding/lactation advice and both twins are still nursing at 1 1/2 years.
I have had all 4 of my children there and LOVE it! My OB is Contemporary Women's Center. They delivered all (c-section and 3 drug free VBAC) and performed my tubal. LOVE THEM! All female practice with MDs and midwives.
That's where I had Kailey, she was born by emergency c-section and was in the nicu also. They are AWESOME!!!!! Dr. Marcelli IMO is the best OB in the world!!! She kept such a close eye on my high risk preg and even called me to "make sure" I was actually on bedrest<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> , she really cared.
it's great to read such wonderful things about the SWC. Baby #2 is due any day and we are with contempory women's care and will have baby there. they have a few waterbirth rooms and we took the class...hopefully this baby will be smooth sailing!
bumping this thread to see what any more recent experiences at Sarah Walker and/or Maternity Center at Mease Countryside are? Do they have a high c-section rate? What midwives/OBs are recommended who serve these hospitals? Thanks!
Dr. Marcelli does NOT like to do c-sections at all. I don't know the hospital rate, but she tries everything possible to have you deliver naturally. I could not because of 4 different complications, but up until the last moment, she still kept her fingers crossed that my placenta would move, umbilical cord would move, baby would turn etc..
