I'm guessing that they may be different from store to store, because the produce at ours is actually pretty good! I don't go there all the time, but I do save some $$ when I do go.

We shop ours at least once a month if not 2x. We love it. Ours has decent produce, although we prefer the farmer's market. And we do buy certain meats there as well. I feed a family of 7 for approx. 300-350 a month and spend approx. $206 there. It saves us SO much money!

The produce at ours always looks yucky, and I've found that Super Wal-Mart is about the same or a tad cheaper on pretty much everything.

I miss living near a save a lot. Ours was really great. It had decent produce. Of course it wasn't farmers market type of good produce, but it wasn't yucky either.

i havent been to a save-a-lot for a few years since there isnt one convenient to me. however, it kinda reminded me of a combination between aldi and a regular grocery store. its probably about the same size as aldi. they have more of a mixture of generic and name brand products than aldi does. they do accept manufacturer's coupons. the store near my grandparents' did double coupons (up to 99 cents, i think), but that might just be because all the other grocery stores in the area did too.

When we lived near one, I liked it much better than Aldis. Maybe it depends on management? The Aldis there was awful, Save-a-Lot had great produce, and lots of good deals. Our Aldis here is fine, but I don't have a Save-a-Lot to compare it to.

thanks everyone for your feedback. i guess i am just going to have to wait and see. i am hoping ours will be good and worth it to drive down that way! we really dont have a lot of competition here so this will be good.

I didn't read everyone's response but we have one and I shop there occassionally. The prices are very good but they don't have everything. I understand it's very similar to Aldi if you've ever shopped there. : )
