The "please don't ring the doorbell" sign reminded me of this. One of the other moms in my prenatal yoga class is having her second child, and her first will be about 2 when the baby comes (same as me). She said that she is planning on putting a sign up that says "please greet ---(toddler) before visiting with our new baby", so the toddler doesn't feel left out. I think this is a great idea even though I don't think my DD will be too sensitive to it, I made a sign with her little cutie face on it that says "please say Hi to Piper before visiting with our new little one". Just something to think about for those of us who have other kids...

When my dd#2 was born, I let dd#1 (who was 2 at the time) "introduce" the baby to the visitors. That really helped her feel included. Many people were nice enough to bring her little gifts and I kept a few dollar store type gifts wrapped for if/when she felt left out. It was actually a pretty smooth transaction.

I like the idea of big sis introducing the baby, but DD isn't talking too well yet. The gift idea is great though, my granny sent me a huge box of stuffed animals that I immediatly put in the attic, so I have a good stash! I just can't wait to see her sweet little face when she meets her new sibling

Me too! I think I'm looking forward to them meeting the baby more than anything. They both have their jobs for the birth and are talking about it a lot lately. Dd2 keeps asking when the baby will come out (actually, mama does too

). I love that they're so excited and genuinely seem to understand what a special thing this is.
