Ok that's it. I am squeezing out money from who knows where to go to the Chiropractor on Tuesday. I finally broke down and called even though we can't really afford it. I'm in so much pain all the time! I can't even walk!

Whine whine whine whine whine.

oh, I'm soooo sorry! I completely know the feeling. I've been going to my chiro 2x per week since about 12 weeks to try to navigate around the back problems and sciatica that I KNEW I would have again. (I competitively twirled baton for 21 years, and danced from 3 years old right through college - Major) So far, only 1 really bad bought of sciatica and I went in the same day, and he REALLY helped. I had trouble walking in, and not a problem walking out.
I hope you get some much needed relief!

I know it's terrible - I hope they'll fix you up! Ask them if they can give you exercises to do on your own. A few chiros do, but exercises can be really helpful in managing the pain yourself.

I'm right there with you
I need to make an appointment. never been to the chiro, but I shouldn't be hobbling around like this. I had back problems before pregnancy - I have a messed up l4/l5 vertebrae from a fall and pars defect which makes the vertebrae move too. my growing belly has changed my posture so my back/leg is hurting a lot more than usual. with me it's not just back pain, it's the hip and leg pain that hurt so bad.

I hope you get some relief soon!

Leisa Hart's Fit Mama pregnancy workout has a stretch for the sciatica (near the end, during the cool-down) that feels sooooooo good! It's hard to explain in words, but maybe you can get the video from your library to see it. Ask your chiro about some stretches you can do at home.

That stinks!! I hope you find the money and it makes you feel so much better!

I think right now I am so lucky to have belly dancing it seems that some of my moves are the only thing keeping my back and hips in line. Sometimes I am soooooo sore but a few figure 8's (Maya's) and some hip circles (ummies) I feel so much better!!!

Too bad I still expect to need a chiropractor or get a massage regularly since getting pregnant my neck injury from a car accident two years ago is really acting up. I wish insurance covered stuff like this!!!

me too, mine started yesterday so i've got to find a local chiro.
I went to an osteopath last pregnancy for tail bone pain and it worked like magic but i thought i'd try a chiro this time as i'd never been to one before.
Oh well only another 17 weeks to go.

I cant afford a chiro, so my midwife showed me some exercises and guess what, NO MORE PAIN!!!! I was hurting for weeks, but I feel so good. Lucky me am better with the nerve pain, but conveniently after, I started up with vaginal hemorrhoids.

Why cant it be a perfect pregnancy????

I have never in my life heard of vaginal hems. Not sure I want to know! Sounds terrible.

Sneaking in to share my esperience.

Try swimming. I had terrible, crippling sciatica with all of my pregnancies and swimming helped A LOT. The weight of baby/uterus/etc. will float and take the pressure off and stretches are much more effective. Even better if you can find a nice warm pool to swim in!

Oh mama, you dont ever want to find out. They are technically called vaginal varicosities. It is externally on the lips of vagina and is loads of veins like on the legs. The pain is so bad and sex it out if the question as a down side.
It is more common if you have already had children before. I get them if I am on my feet all day. Good excuse to lay down alot.

what's the word, Talula? did the chiro help?

I am starting to suspect that all my hip problems are also sciatica. I have it on both sides of my sacrum though -- walking is hard, sleeping is hard, bending over is hard. AH!

I'm planning to start more swimming and a prenatal class to see if I can get my hips into alignment. This is torture!

It helped a little bit for about 4 days. Now I'm back to waking up at 3 and 4 in the morning in so much pain I can't sleep. I am going back this week but I can't afford to do this enough to get relief. I'm screwed.

bummer! I was so hoping you had been cured. Have you tried to find someone in your tribe to barter (your bread?!) with? Is there an acupuncture school near you? I have an MD who also does acupuncture, so I'm able to get it covered by insurance. I'm going to make an appt with her. I feel for you... this hurts like mad.

Talula Fairie, I am so sorry you are not better. I know just how bad it is. I had horrible nerve pain for several weeks with this pregnancy, and for many months with my DD. I couldn't go down stairs because my legs would give out at any time and I had no control.

This time around, my midwife showed me great exercises to do on my own since I don't have a penny extra for a Chiro.
I wish I could find some pics that show what to do (or I will have to photo myself
)
It has completely taken the pain away. Also, I upped my calcium and magnesium dosage. No legs cramps!! That might have had an impact on the nerve pain going away too.

You know, I never never, ever, not once, not ever found ANY way to lower the costs of chiro/accupunture or anything like that. I don't think things exist like that in California! MAYBE a school, but even those are not cheap.
