This just actually proves that they still are the 2nd most intelligent creatures(next to mice). It must be part of their plan to detract attention from themselves so we won't see them comminicating with the spaceship that will pick them up right before our world destructs. Of course , this would be right after a final grand musical finale of "So Long, and Thank You for All the Fish"
