Another reason to make your own baby food.

The medical profession does not have a good track record with feeding people hormones. For example, the DES fiasco, the Rbst scandal, anabolic steroids and even feeding babies soy products goes against the grain. In all cases there have been problems unforeseen happen, and the medical profession has not learned from its own mistakes.

What an outrage. What a stupid idea.

One step, according to Dr. Robert Lustig ("a pediatric endocrinologist at UCSF Children's Hospital, is nationally recognized in the field of neuroendocrinology, with an emphasis on the regulation of energy balance by the central nervous system.")

is to simply stop serving children JUICE and Soda would go a long way to fight obesity. He says they are both harmful and cause obesity.

I heard him speak locally.

Drinking Juice is no better than soda

That article covers what he talked about.

He says that FRUCTOSE is everywhere and part of the problem.

I'll post more later.

But apparently "Hey, why not just BF?" is just not complicated enough.

Even if they do add leptin, there are still hundreds of ingrediants in BM not present in forumla.

Not to mention it is HIGHLY doubtful that adding it will do any good, much less NOT be harmful.

Yeah, or maybe it's just not lucrative enough.

I am far from the ideal natural-foods parent. In fact my child has on occasion eaten things that would probably appall the average MDC member. But this really saddens me a lot.

Anything to make a buck...geez.

How 'bout...limiting TV? Increasing fruits and vegetables? Eliminating soda and juice? 30 minutes of gross motor activity a day (outside when possible)? Enough sleep for toddlers and preschoolers? Limiting candy and other "artificial high" foods?

There's 6 things off the top of my head.

I get like this from time to time. I get so angry that something as important as our FOOD is being tampered with over and over and over.

Also, yeah, wouldn't it be nice if somehow breastfeeding could be marketed better?

Gross! Shopping scares me, really. And we don't even know what else is tampered with that they aren't telling us about...

Well, we could attempt to get society to be responsible. Ya know... bfing whenever possible, exercising or participating in other activity daily, eating sensibly sized portions, etc, but that'll never work! :

umm......what about the babies that are low weight that don't need leptin?

Why, you just start them on solids early. That's what we were told to do anyway. :

Just another reason why I feel great about not giving meals of solids to my babies until they can feed it to themselves, and then they only get soft versions of our food.
