So, DH and I are thinking about making a move out west. The northern parts of New Mexico seem very appealing. Can you tell me, southwestern mamas, what it's like to live there?

Are there many bugs? Scorpions and the like? What about gardening? How crunchy are the people? How/what is the job market?

Any info, positive or negative, would be appreciated.

We're planning on travelling next spring to scout the area.

Thanks a bunch - Lisa

hi. I live in santa fe. very very few mosquitos, very crunchy/alternative lifestyles friendly. I love it here.
I had my daughter in the hospital, and they were completely pro breastfeeding and quite used to and respectful of no-vacc.
Also, it's the home of Mothering magazine. If you are more into rural areas, the road to taos (pilar, etc.) is gorgeous and lush.

hope you find a nice spot.
