How reliable are these scratch tests? I just had one done on my 7 month old son (he has eczema), milk, soy, eggs and cats came up as the biggest reactions. He is EBF and I haven't eaten milk, soy or eggs in months and I have not seen any improvement in his eczema. I guess I am most concerned about the cat reaction as we have 2 and it would break my heart to have to rehome them. Does anyone know how reliable these tests are?

dont have an answer for you..but i will say that i am suspicious of their validity. ive also heard from other moms that they are not reliable (especially in the very young). i did however allow the test on my then 9 month old..and he came up positive for beef and bananas! they said it was strange. he still has ezema though and other respiratory challenges...even while we are both avoiding the double Bs. they told me his back was too small to do test for everything they wanted to..and i should come back repeatedly to get them all in. i havent rescheduled though. looking forward to the feedback from others on this topic.

Are you sure have those foods out of your diet? You aren't just looking at the word soy or milk or egg on the label. These indredients fall under numerous and I do mean numerous names. There are about 20 different names for soy on labels, same for egg. Milk I am not sure since my son doesn't have issues with that.

Did you get an avoidance sheet from the Allergist?
