I just moved to Seattle and I know absolutely no one here! I don't have a car so I can't commute to Tacoma or Oly where my family is, so I was hoping to make some new Momma friends. I live in Capitol Hill, and I have a 6MO daughter. Anyone want a playdate or something? I am so outrageously bored!

ooh ooh pick me pick me! sorry, we just moved here, too, and I'm a little lonely. I start a nanny job in Capital Hill (well, on the edge between Capital Hill & the Central District) at the end of May. The little girl will be 12 weeks old at that point, and my son will be 17.5 months.

SURE! There's storytime at the Queen Anne community center on Tuesdays at 10:30 and a ton of parks in both our neighborhoods. My little one doesn't like to sit still for much, so parks & open spaces are my best bet if I want to get any conversing done. I don't have a car during the day, either, so if you want we can meet downtown or in either of our neighborhoods (yours obviously once my job starts). you can e-mail me jen[at]gonzopants[dot]com

I'll be your friend!

My baby is 7.5 months and we live on the west side of capitol hill close to Madison Valley. I'm up for lots of stuff- want to take a walk sometime? this week is pretty slow for me.

Hi! I just moved here too and am in desperate need of mama-friends! I've been feeling super homesick lately and I know I just need to meet some people. I have a 21mo baby girl. We are up for parks, playgrounds, walks, storytime, lunch, whatever! Let's plan something soon!

you know, I almost wonder if we should get a group of Mamas for a playdate sometime really soon, especially with the weather like it has been. Anyone interested?

I am SO interested! How do afternoons work for everyone? I know I'm not the only one without a car, so something downtown so it's accessible to everybody? Are there good parks downtown? Does the aquarium have half-price days or something? Maybe an MDC family get-together one Saturday at the zoo? I know George has been wanting to meet people, too, so getting together with some dads (maybe we can arrange a "daddy/baby" day and us moms can go grab a cuppa for an hour?) might be a good thing for him.

I am free after about 2. Ian (my SO) is not very sociable, but he always complains about not knowing anybody around here. Maybe we could start out as a family thing? That way we aren't putting too much pressure on any of the guys.

I am not working right now, so I am almost always free. I could look up some parks, but right now it is lunch time. PB&J, here I come.

I'm up for a playdate, walk or whatever. There's that coffeeshop in Madison Valley w/ the great play space for kids, and easy to get to from Capitol Hill. I think it's called My Coffeehouse.

I have not heard of this place. Which busses would one need to take to get there from capitol hill? When is everyone free?

I am free before 1pm. DD needs her nap around then. DH gets home at 4pm, so there isn't much time for playdates in the afternoon. We are free on weekends for family get togethers, too. I think that's a great idea. I have a car and could fit another carseat and mama in with us if need be. We live in Maple Leaf. There's a great playground on Capitol Hill with a Vivace coffee shop nearby. Maybe that would work one morning? We could get our cuppa and the kiddos could run.

Rosa, that playground idea would totally work for me, though, my daughter can't quite run yet I am only a couple of blocks from there, though, so if you are interested, let me know. Keagan takes a nap around 11 or so depending on when she wakes up (usually 9ish), but she can sleep in my arms while we get coffee or something similar.

I really think this family get-together thing needs to happen. How's the second Saturday in May looking for everyone? The Zoo? I think if we can get 10+ people, we might qualify for a group discount.

May 12th looks good for me, but I need to check with Ian. The zoo sounds good, but I am not sure if we can afford it right now. Maybe we can just do a park visit or something?

Just so everyone has the information, toddlers under 2 are free, children 3-12 are $10 & over 12 is $15. Groups of >20 get a 10% discount provided one person pays and everyone enters at the same time through the same entrance. It would be a little steep for us, too, just for the record, but it was an idea I wanted to throw into the ring.

So, SEA native moms: what's the BEST park in town? Coolest play structure, neatest sand box, best benches, easy bus access, etc.?

Afternoons are great for us as well. There is a coffeeshop with toys and such for toddlers in Madison Valley (28th and Madison- you can take the 8 or 11 to very near there) for less then optimal weather. I'm also becoming an expert in playgrounds with swings for my dd. The one by Seattle Central Community College (broadway/11th and Pine) and the one in Madison park are our favorites (11 bus route).

The one on Broadway and 11th is Cal Andersen Park. I love that one, especially with the fountain. There are also coffee shops and things around there. I would be willing to meet at the coffee shop. I don't know if we can get >20 people for the zoo. Anyone free this week/weekend?
