Can anyone offer ideas or successes dealing with seasonal allergies in their kids. I have 3 kids and we've never had an issue before, ever. My 6 yr old has been having an itchy runny nose and cough this year starting around the typical time for spring pollen issues. My allergies have never been so bad either, actually!, but my kid has a darn good immune system. Its crazy, how does that happen? I feel like I've exhausted all my resources and ideas, and since I'm pro-alternative and holistic health choices first, I was hoping
someone here could help.

Some quick background...we filter our house water; he's never been on antibiotics; he eats a very good diet (i.e. organic, low in sugar, higher in protein and/or raw dairy); most days we remember to get probiotics and a dose of cod liver oil in; and he's out in the sun, when its out that is!, a LOT. He's in Kindergarten, and I even checked about their use of hand sanitizer, and he rarely uses it (he prefers soap and water, which I encourage). He is in an all day K program, but they actually get outside for 2 recesses per day.

Ok hopefully this email isn't too long already--but things we've been doing: changed our house heat/AC filter; nasal rinses with a netti pot, NOT fun for the 6 yr old so I don't push it too often; and this week I bought local bee pollen. Taking pollen has done WONDERS for me, that and the netti pot. However the pollen doesn't seem to be working as well for the kiddo, if at all.

Thank you so much for any ideas...atchoo

Natural vitamin C ... not ascorbic acid... 2-3x per day. Completely got rid of my 20 year battle with seasonal hay fever. And also raw milk kefir. Some raw honey but not a lot so although others have had luck with it, personally I do not think it was "the thing" for me.

I would normally rec NOW's Acerola powder b/c it makes a great "juice" or addition to juice, but they changed it to include ascorbic acid. Radiant Life Catalog still has some of the old kind in stock.

Amla capsules are another good source of natural C. I'm looking into camu camu right now.

What's Wrong with Ascorbic Acid

In the 1930s, Dr. Szent-Gyorgyi won the Nobel Prize in medicine for identifying vitamin C and all its many health benefits. Although he successfully isolated the molecule ascorbic acid in his research, his studies clearly demonstrated the vastly superior benefits of consuming foods rich in vitamin C. For this reason, even though he discovered ascorbic acid, he did not recommend its use! In fact, Dr. Szent-Gyorgyi affirmed over and over again that the best results occurred when people consumed vitamin C in its natural food form.
