Second Labors...
When/How did your second labor start? I've been hearing a lot lately from both my doctors and from other people that second births are much harder to start labor and that women have a harder time producing pitocin on their own with the second labor.

My second labor began on its own w/no intervention by 42 weeks

My labor started on its own, but i needed pitocin at some point within the labor process

I needed pitocin or other medical intervention to begin labor

I was forced to have medical augmentation and before 42 weeks, and felt it was compeletely unnescessary!

Really? that's weird. My own (and all people I can think of....and I've lived in 3 different mommy communities!) has started w/o pit. and for the most part, w/o med's or drugs.

I started right around due date and it was fast and wonderful.

For me, first labor, water broke, over 18 hours later, still barely contracting, did NOT want pit, tried cervidil, and it work for me. Second labor, 5 days past "due date" m/w agreed to strip my membranes (in the a.m.), went home and had sex with hubby
and then contractions started at 6 p.m., ds born at 10:35 p.m. Bag of water never broke--mw broke as it crowned with ds's head.
