Well almost! DD hit 5'5" I swear overnight! She is now maybe less than an inch shorter than me. I am stunned at it. This is the baby I nursed and lugged around on my hip. When she woke up in the morning as a toddler, all dh and I would see is the top of her curls coming down the hallway. And now we fight over clothes and shoes <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> Holy smokes time flies <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

It's so weird cuddling with her because I can think back all those years when she fit so perfect in my arms. Time does indeed fly!

Your dd is a tall one! It's funny that even though dd is almost as tall as me, she still (bless her wonderful heart) wants to cuddle like she always did. My DS takes great delight in looking over my head, and I'm 5'9". <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> He does it every day to me.<br><br>
Even standing on my toes, I can not look eye to eye with him. I think the same things as you, where did my little guy go? It's a good thing we have photos!<br><br>
He is a lot like my side of the family, and will probably end up around 6'2".<br><br>
It is weird to be the parent of a 'soon to be man', as well as little children.

it is sooo amazing to think, it seems like you were just born.. especially since in our house we have little ones who everyone asks "when did i...." to compare out of curiousity when they did things and when each kid is doing things... so it keeps the baby days fresher in our minds too i think.

Well, I can console myself with the thought that my girls willl never borrow my clothes, even when they get to be my height. I don't expect either of them to wear a 2X during their teen years!

One of my twin sons grew an inch in a week - and has the stretch marks on his back to prove it.<br><br>
Now, at age 12, they are both 5'9" (at last measure - probably taller now), to my 5'4". I keep reminding them that while they might be taller, I'll always be older!<br><br>
And they wore size 10 shoes at age 10. They haven't outgrown shoes not for almost a year, so I'm hoping that the feet have sllowed down, while the rest of their bodies catch up!

I've been looking at my dd through the same eyes lately too. Wow, my little girl is now my height and can wear my shoes!! Time does fly and I am savouring (sp?) those cuddle moments, hugs and kisses even more these days.

Before I got pregnant ds and I took the same size of clothes! I was kind of weird! Dd can't wait to share clothes with me and that will probably only be a year or two. It's fun actually but I can't believe these tall people are mine.

Thank you - I need this line today! DD turns 12 today; she has been taller than me for at least 2 years. We measured last night; she's 5'10", I'm 5'6". This is bad enough, but YoungSon, who turns 11 in 2 weeks, is fully one foot shorter, and weighs half. She's only a year older, for Pete's sake! She is even taller than 25 year old ElderSon.
