Hi, I am looking to start a weekly AP SAHM playgroup for mamas in the North Shore suburbs who are willing to make the effort to meet in person for support, encouragement and playtime. We can meet at the homes of those willing to open them to others, or bookstores, cafes or anywhere else that can accommodate us.

I live in Evanston with my husband and 7 1/2-month-old, and am longing to meet other area mamas who love wearing their babies/toddlers and feel that respecting their children's needs is crucial to their development.

Please join us!!

Hi!
I'm in Chicago very close to Park Ridge and Skokie and am looking for the same! I'm also living with my DH and 7 month-old baby; I don't live in Evanton, but heck, I did as of two months ago.

I hope other people have contacted you, as well. I'd really love to meet some other parents of young babies who have similar ideals about parenting!

Just wanted to say I'm in chicago right next to Park Ridge. No longer have a baby, but I was an AP extended nursing mom. There is a LLL meeting at Holy Family Hospital in DesPlaines. That covers the Park Ridge/DesPlaines area. Meetings I beleive are on the 3rd Thursday night of the month at 7:30

Mommy to Megan, your the one that lives down the street from me? By St Thecla church. I remember awhile back you had just moved into the neighborhood. So your having another baby? Hope the morning sickness is on the way out!

Are you two in Edison Park? I just moved to this area.
McNallymama thanks so much for your pm way back when! Sorry I didn't respond; I got so caught up with baby stuff, and I haven't gotten back to these boards until recently. Oh I miss Evanston, I know there is so much going on there, and so many moms groups. I will definitely look into LLL locally as suggested. I'm always so tired though and often work at home at night, I'm not so sure I'll be up for hopping into the car on a cold night to drive to Des Plaines or wherever.
Any other Mamas in Edison Park or immediate area? Like next door to me? Maybe I'm getting too picky.

Right next door to you in Norwood Park. I'm pretty much right on the border near Harlem and Devon.

There used to be a morning Park Ridge group the first Thursday of each month at 10:00 but the group dwindled down to one leader and me (I'm a peer counselor). We'd get new moms who would come to one meeting and then not come back.

Those meetings were hosted at moms homes in Park Ridge and frequently at my home. I don't know if the meetings will ever start up again, since the leader went back to work now part time. But I will keep you posted if I hear anything.

I was thinking of starting up a breastfeeding moms group in the area, but have not gotten around to doing it. I will post here if I finally get my act together.

Im actually 2 blocks from firemom, so not far from you at all.
I attended a few LLL meetings at Holy family, but 7:30 was always hard to get to and when Megan was a infant, it was pretty much her crabby time. All the ladies seemed to be really nice, so, if the time works for you, I would definately check it out.
