When you allow your baby to self feed, do you put some on a spoon and let them put the spoon in their mouth (DD will do this) or let them get the food on their fingers and then stick the fingers in their mouth (she's less likely to do this) or use the mesh feeder or is there some other option that I am missing?

We just began with a small taste of avocado last week and are planning on bananas for this week and I'm not concerned about her actually eating just getting used to new tastes and textures but I'm curious about what has worked for others.

I have that link bookmarked, it's about what we did/do with our little guy. He's been able to pick food up and chew it since he hit 6 mos. and we started letting him (and even before that, in a few cases- sneaky crawling/pulling up baby!)
