Hello,

I am new to selling stuff. Just want to inquire about an etiquette concern.

What do you do in this situation? Say you post an item and have 4 or 5 quick replies. You send pictures to people.

Do you feel that you should wait for the first person who contacted you to respond or do you sell to the first person who says "Yes I definately want it" ?

This makes me see the advantage of posting pics online--everyone has equal opportunity to see and immediately purchase rather than waiting on emailed pics...

Thanks,
Paula

I give the first person who asked a chance to respond. I think that is only fair! Personally I prefer to list links to pics in my posts - and I rarely respond to one that doesn't have pics listed, because I'm an impulse shopper, and I hate to wait for someone to get back to me with an e-mailed pic!

I'm always torn on this to! I've waited a "reasonable" amount of time but I won't wait a week you know?

I think what you should do when you send out the picture is state either

"you were the 2nd to contact me so I will be waiting to see if the first response wants it. If not you have dibs"
OR
"I'm sending this picture to multiple people and I'll be accepting the first offer I receive"

That way the people getting pictures have a heads up and know what you're doing. Nobody will feel like they've been had, you know? I try to post pics with my listings to though.

I would go with the first who inquired.

Some mamas can't live at their computers, so they can't constantly be checking their email trying to be the first to see the picture and get back to you. We have to mommy!

I go with the first one, too. I've had my hopes dashed waaay too many times after being the first to reply saying I wanted it but not actually PAYING----then hearing back that it was already taken. There are only so many hours in the day I can check my computer

Hi, there. I agree with other posters. I try to go with the first who inquired. Good luck selling. You are a great mama to work with.

I agree! How long is enough time to wait for someone who just asked for pictures to respond? A week?
