I know it's not cool to sell something you've knit from someone else's pattern without permission purely for profit. But what if it's something that you knitted for yourself or your kids and it doesn't fit anymore? Is it cool to sell it then like on the TP or something? What if you knit something for yourself, but it doesn't turn out exactly right and you don't want it/it doesn't fit. Is it cool to sell then? I'm just wondering what the rules are on that kind of thing.

I think the don't like it/doesn't fit rule would be a little too easy to break "accidentally on purpose". OOOPS!! I made a small soaker and my 2YO can't wear it! Off to ebay I go.

Here are a couple of links on fair use and copyright that I turned up. The stuff from CafePress seems pretty relevant, since that is all about selling stuff.

http://www.chillingeffects.org/fairuse/faq.cgi

http://fairusenetwork.org/reference/c-firstsale.php

http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/help/law.aspx
