As one of my final post before really disapearing, I want to thank you, Joyce, for turning me on to Truthout! And I want to also say, I really have always been so in awe of Sen. Byrd. He seems so distinguished and yet clear spoken - he seems to me to have always been the type who sees through all the denial to say the Emperor has no clothes. I used this same premise for a Baptism - where I wished for the boy to grow with the courage to say so when someone was walking around naked!!

I'm glad he doesn't run for President - he has more freedom and power outside that chaos!

I mention any inconsistencies and its always, "the iraqis are better off now," "we have to support our country," "what are you talking about now?"

My least favorite comment regarding Bush/war--- Clinton went to war w/out Nato support, was he a warmonger? I *feel* there must be a difference, but am knocked on my ass by that one

NATO is not the UN. Bush went against "the world" when he did the Iraq thing unilaterally.

Clinton just asked for NATO (16 countries that make up the North Atlantic Treaty Organization) support and they did not want to get involved, so he made the decision to go without the support of NATO but there was no resounding"NO" from every country in the UN.

Big, Big, difference......
