I turned 39 last June and decided that I wanted to "Lose 40 by 40" and it has taken me a while to get mentally prepared to start my weight loss and exercise program.

Is anyone out there using Sept. 1 as a start date? I could use a buddy!

And I will admit now that I probably need to lose more like 50 lbs!

My main goal here is to be healthy and strong so I can get pregnant again and hopefully not have gestational diabetes this time. I also want to be a good role model for my ds.

Okay, I want to look good too!!!:

Anyone want to join me today?

Okay, after having dinner at my mom's last night, Sept. 2nd is going to be my real start date too!

The one thing that is going to be hard for me to do is go for a walk today since it is going to be in the 100's again.

Good luck and let's check in with each other as we go along.

I just signed up for sparkpeople.com and it looks like it will be a real good way to stay motivated!

Right now I'm 190 lbs and I WILL get down to 140. I'm 5'7. So far so good today! I'm just going to get the boys ready to go for a walk!

How are you all doing?? I just went back to the gym today for the first time in ages. I'm really looking forward to exercising again because it helps my mood SO MUCH, but I'm trying not to take on too much and set myself up for failure.

Do you all have routines that you're following? I'd like to get in 45 mins of cardio 4 days a week. I figure anything after that is gravy. I'd like to get rid of the pp belly, too.

Sorry for starting this thread then not coming back! We had a family emergency to deal with and now everything is fine so here I am.

I have not been working out yet, but feel good that I have eliminated all fast food crap and all sugar from my diet.

Just from that and eating smaller portions of healthy food I have lost 4 pounds! It always comes off quick the first month then grinds to a halt for me so I will enjoy this first victory!

My goal for next week is to add weight lifting Tue/Thurs/Sat and try to fit some walking in as well. I have found sparkpeople to be really helpful in planning my weight lifting routine.

The following week I am going to start walking a minimum of 30 minutes a day-everyday! Which means I will probably walk about 4-5 times.

As you can see, it's baby steps for me. I am not good at doing everything all at once!

Hope all is well and please let me know how it's going so far!

I don't think I could do 30 mins every day. I'd like to, but I think that would stress me out.

I'm trying to convince dh to take a beginning soccer class with me, so then I'll just have three more days to fill.

Can I join too. I gained almost 60 pounds with each of my children. Ds turned 1 sept 1 and I had just started to get serious. I had 100 pounds to loose...I don't know how it happened. I think two kids in two years did it. But that is behind me I am working on loosing it now. I have pcos and I have a hard time loosing. HEre is the good news I lost 20 pounds in July but did nothing in Aug. So now I ONLY lol need to loose 80. I started Sept 2nd and have been biking and walking ever since. I am very serious as I need to loose this. I am scared to get on the scale as I get a little obsessed so I will get on once a month October 2nd is the day. Here is to good work outs. I did 6 k on the bike today with two kids in the trailer. Anyone know what a good goal is for bike riding in km or miles I haven't clue

I'm so proud of myself. I got up at 6 a.m. this morning and went to the gym. I did 40 mins on the elliptical machine before dh left for work. Now, I've just got to get up and do it again tomorrow!

lunabelly that is great!! 6am is horrid so that is a great accomplishment. I turned my walk into a walk/jog today. it was about 50/50 so I was pretty proad of that as I have never went for a jog before. I had to push a double jogging stroller that doesn't have a pivot wheel but we survied I can't wait to go again tomorrow.
