I found this while searching for info on my sewing machine. It says it is a generic attachment for all sewing machines with 5mm zigzag. It sounds pretty nifty, if it works! Has anyone tried one of these? I found it at allbrands.com. In the photo it looks like a foot attachment.

Wow! I'm really curious about that. I'd love to have a serger, but there's no way I could justify it. Maybe it's like an overlock presser foot? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shrug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shrug"> I've wanted to try one of those.

I sincerely doubt it could work. For one thing, does it have a cutting blade? For two, to get a "real" serged seam you need at least 3 threads. IMO you're better off shopping yard sales. We found a working serger at one for $3.

The description says it has a cutting blade, and that you can cut along excess seam allowance of two layers. It also says you can use straight, zigzag, overcast or serge stitches with it. It seems too good to be true. I only make diapers for my son, so I don't need a serger, but this would make it so much easier to make things like inserts and wipes. I might check out their return policy.......
