I have a four-needle overlock serger (2/3/4 Overlock, SL234D White Speedylock) which I purchased a LONG time ago ('95 or '96 I think); I used it for a few years but not a lot, put it away and just got it out again after about 8 years of storage. : I thought things were all going fine with it (I'd left it threaded and just had to rety the thread to put the spools back on) - but the pants I made with it yesterday, lost their crotch when I washed them today. And, sometimes the overlock seems "loopy." Like it looks fine, and then a loop will pop out (once it's washed, not while it's being sewn). There had been a little "show" of the thread on the seam allowances, but I think I fixed that by increasing the tension for my needle threads.

I've tinkered with the tension per the owner's manual and per my "Taming Your Serger" book - but haven't found anything which describes what I'm *seeing.* Basically, it looks like my two needle thread tensions are fine; and honestly it's like the other two looper thread tensions are fine too - except that they extend past the edge of the fabric (not one of them - both of them). ??? Any tips? I think this is something really basic that's just going right over my head.

And I'd so been enjoying the fact that I was sewing so quickly with the serger, not having to stop to edge finish seams. Fortunately it was just cloth wipes for cloth diapering, and two pairs of flannel pants that I'd made. And a couple pillowcases. So I need to do some zig-zagging to secure the stitching on those items but it's not a LOT and the cloth wipes seem to be washing/wearing fine regardless. I'd been kicking myself for not getting the serger out sooner, and thinking it'd be a zoo and take forever and frustrate me. And - here I am, frustrated and it's taking forever. :
