Well, I belong to another parenting board, and today was the first post I have noticed about CIO The mama was asking for prayers that the baby would learn to comfort himself b/c tonight she is gonna start letting him CIO. What's worse is that people were going to pray that she had the strength to listen to him w/o comforting him. Okay, I'm crying right now too Our babies are only 5 months old I'm sure there have been other threads, but I don't get a chance to read there alot (I have to take care of my little bundle of energy, who sometimes cries b/c she *needs* me). I didn't say anything, but I'm putting my thoughts toward the mama not being able to stand to hear him cry tonight!

Just had to get it out

Sounds like if she's asking for prayers it's not really what she wants to do. Maybe she just is at her wits end and needs support or ideas on what else she can do. I hope she can't stand to hear her baby cry and she looks for a better way

I know what you mean. Today my neighbor, whom I adore, told me that she had started solids with her 3.5 month old dd (she also has a 22 month old son). She went on to say that dd doesn't like it very much, and keeps spitting it out. I asked her if it was still her gag reflex, and she said "yeah, but like my mom says, you just have to keep shoving it in there."

I was so shocked to hear her say this, because she is normally so cool about following her children's leads and letting things progress naturally. It made me sad to think of this precious little babe having food forced down her throat.
