After reading the thread on someone's dh writing an essay about CD's for his class, it got me thinking about how seeing CD's helps convert people. So, I was wondering if everyone could post their stories about how they have converted people to cloth.

I don't have any definite converts yet, but a couple in the works.

My friend that I used to teach with says that she will definitely be CDing when she has kids. She said it looks easy, cute, and all the environmental issues.

Another friend from school is currently pregnant and super interested. She wants me to take her to our local cloth store and she seems excited.

That's all for me so far, I'm working on a couple others!

Well, on my due date list, 3 other people have started cloth diapering (I think 1 is still trying them out - doesn't have a full stash yet) since I posted that I switched back to cloth. Between me and another lady on the list who has been using cloth for several months (it was her experiences that got me looking back into it), it peeked some people's interest. There are also at least 3 others that are interested in CD'ing their next kids.

Locally, my best friend is due in May, and she is wanting to try cloth out for money savings purposes. I've got another couple friends that are interested as well.

And I only switched back to cloth in August!

Well, everyone around me thinks I'm crazy I did convert my cousin for a short time. She bought about $200 worth of prefolds, covers and HH, used them for a few months and then went back to sposies. I think if she lived closer (over 1000 miles away) and I could have encouraged more, she would have stuck with it. I love to hear convert stories though

A friend of mine has used cloth from birth - the baby's grandma paid, and I bought the diapers. They are in medium FBs now, *and* they made another convert! They are all max-crunchy though so they were soft targets

my friend used to politely look at my dipes when i would show them to her. ithink she thought i was a nut till she got pg again with number 3.
I got her to use cd's on her son first(number 2) when shewould come over to visit.
then i sold her a few of mine for a cheap price. she noticed quickly that she wasnt having to buy sposies as often and liked that!
alot of her dd3's dipes came used from me free or cheap and she gives them back for me to sell when she's done with them.

When we were at Sears getting DD's 6 month picture taken, one of the photographers saw her diaper and asked if that was a diaper cover. (meaning one of those things that come with some dresses - like bloomers) and I explained to her that it was a cloth diaper. She was surprised, and was telling the other photographer in the room that we use cloth diapers, and was surprised they were so cute.

Then a couple of minutes later when I was getting DD ready for the nakey shot (I love those, btw. So cute! hehe) they saw more of my diapers, and the first photographer was asking where I got them and was asking a lot of questions. She said that when she has her next baby, she's going to cd.

So, I don't know if that counts as a convert, as she doesn't have a baby currently, and I'm not sure if she really is going to cd a baby when it comes along.

I am proud to say that I converted a mom who now makes a well known Hyena diaper
She wasn't a hard sell though, we both grew up crunchy :LOL
My Dd was about 3 months when she found out she was expecting her son,she checked out the diapers , asked a few questions , and then went right ahead .
Later she started making her own diapers and then decided to start a business to stay home with her son after her maternity leave.
It makes me so happy to see her sucess, no one worked harder and deserves it more.

I converted my cousin! I went to visit her when dd was 4 months old, I was still using my original stash of Kushies, they are long gone now! But even the Kushies were nice enough to convince her to start. So we set about buying some for her ds who was 10 months at the time. The I bought some FuzziBunz and sold her one, and that was it! :LOL Now she has a nice stash of almost all FB's with a few LHC AIO's and some fitteds and covers for her new babe who is due in feb. We are combining stashes, I have sent her my smalls for her new babe, and since this is their last baby, I will get ALL her dipes when she is done, that's a lot of FB's...and then some!! So very cool.

She's totally hooked on the cd's and thanks me all the time for getting her into it.

OT, when I was there the first time a friend of hers was over and I changed dd 4 times in as many hours and her friend said "boy you sure change her alot!" To which I replied "yes, when she's wet. I don't want to sit it my waste, why would she?" Just then her ds crawled by in a saggy yellow sposie

My friend was over today and I was changing DD and she said 'oooh cotton nappies, let me watch Ive never seen them' (I use flats). She watched me change her and said 'oh wow, that looks so easy I think I might use them'. She's not TTCing for a couple of years though : but when she does I know what I will buy her for her baby shower!

I converted a friend of mine who has 2 babies a year apart. She started using prefolds and covers at first, and just recently started making her own fitteds.

Our family doctor is definitely interested. Mac's been in cloth at his last 3 check ups and Dr. P loves the different patterns and styles. He's always got a lot of questions for me, and at Mac's 18 month check up, he said that he wanted his wife to cd when they had children.
