We aren't doing summer camps- but I do better with a little structure- I have a 3 and 6 year old- does anyone care to share their plan for a fun, relaxing summer. I'd like to avoid the bickering and boredom as much as possible, but still enjoy lots of time at home.

Our summer's are always pretty tame.

Paige is only 20 months, but when it's warm out I like to spend time at home. We have a pool so we have friends over at least weekly for swimming and mini BBQ's, we take a day trip or two to the beach, zoo's and outdoor fairs and activities, gardening, catching lighting bugs, story time at the library, and anything else OUTDOORS!

We really like to be outside as much as possible when it's nice.
Our summer's are way more laid back

we have a town pool that we can go to, our local library really steps up programming in the summer when the kids are out of school, our local movie theater does free movies 2 mornings a week, we have an arts center that also does programming, 3 nature centers within 30 mins that do summer programming, we also do the parks, playdates with friends, hanging in the yard, going for walks etc. We live in a town of less that 20,000 people and there is tons to do in our town/county if you look around.

Couple camping trips 2-3 days at a time.

Swimming at our favorite lake and laying under the trees reading and eating picnic lunches.
:

Gardening, harvesting, caretaking, canning, and cooking with our yard veggies.
:

Long walks with our dogs discovering our neighborhood.
:

Short hikes and exploring parks we've not yet visited.

Sleeping in, staying up late.

Watching the stars.
:

Roasting marshmallows over the BBQ.

Visiting the farmer's market, eating lots of corn when it's time.
:

Library visits, trips to the craft store to enjoy the air conditioning while we pick out something we want to make.
:

Fun sleepovers with my best friend and her two kids that are the same age as mine.
:

And no summer camp. We've just never done them. My oldest would probably want to go, but my 7 year old would never in a million years she'd cry and cry. She has to have daddy tuck-ins.

I think we've always pretty well done the same thing every summer, now that I think about it!

-swimming lessons every morning, first 2 weeks of the summer. Then lunch, then free play. Every evening we go for a walk to the playground.

-When we don't have swimming lessons, we go to the library, go to dollar movies, go to different wading pools throughout the city.

-If it's too hot to be outside, we have lots of crafts to do.

My summer plans are pretty much non-existent.

I'm having a c-section on June 26th, so July is pretty much a write-off for me.

My in-laws are coming up in August, so we'll do a few neat things then. My mom and stepdad will almost certainly take us out for an afternoon sail, and that will be a lot of fun. It's going to be a pretty quiet summer, in general (unless you count crying, of course - I hope baby-under-construction is an even tempered little one).
